Privacy statement
In force since September 1, 2026. This statement describes how personal information is handled in connection with the website at pulsefable.com.
1. Who is responsible for this website
This website is operated by a private individual, not by a company:

Eric Liu decides why and how any personal information connected with this website is handled, and is accountable for it under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA, S.C. 2000, c. 5). Because the operator is an individual writing about mobile games rather than a business collecting customer records, the amount of personal information involved is deliberately kept as close to zero as a public website allows.
2. What this statement covers
It covers the pages published at pulsefable.com, including the catalogue page and the three legal pages. It does not cover Google Play, the studios that publish the games described here, or any other website reached through a link. Those services publish their own privacy documents and are outside the operator's control.
3. What the site does not collect
The following statements are facts about how the site is built, not promises about future behaviour:
- There is no form, no input field and no comment box anywhere on this site. Nothing can be typed into a page and sent to the operator through it.
- There are no user accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no push notifications.
- No analytics product is installed. There is no measurement script, no tag manager, no pixel and no session recorder.
- The site carries no advertising and takes part in no advertising network, so no advertising identifier is created or read here.
- No personal information is sold, rented or traded. It is not used to build a profile or to target anything at you.
4. What is processed automatically when a page loads
Serving a page over the internet is impossible without some technical processing. Two service providers act on the operator's behalf when a page is requested: the hosting provider that stores the files, and Cloudflare, Inc., which operates the content delivery and security network placed in front of them. In the course of delivering a page, these providers process:
- the address of the page requested and, where a browser sends one, the referring address;
- the browser and device string sent by your browser, including operating system and rendering engine;
- the country or region derived from the network address of the request;
- the network address itself, held briefly for security and abuse prevention;
- aggregate delivery timings, including the loading measurements published as Core Web Vitals.
This processing happens in server and network logs. It does not require a cookie, and the operator does not receive a per-visitor report from it. Where Cloudflare adds its own technical cookie or a beacon script for delivery diagnostics, it does so as the network provider; the cookie page of this site describes that in more detail.
5. Information kept on your own device
The information notice at the bottom of the page writes exactly one value into the local storage of your browser, under the key pulse:cookie-choice. It records only that the notice was answered, so that it does not appear again on every page. It is not a cookie, it is never sent to a server, it contains no identifier, and clearing your browser data removes it. No other key is written by this site.
6. Purposes and legal basis
Under PIPEDA the operator relies on implied consent for the technical processing described in section 4, because that processing is necessary to deliver the pages you asked for and to keep them available. The purposes are limited to: delivering the requested pages; keeping the site secure and available; and diagnosing faults. If you send an e-mail to the address in section 1, you provide your own address and whatever you choose to write; that message is handled for the sole purpose of replying to you.
7. Transfers outside Canada
The hosting provider and Cloudflare operate international networks, so a request may be served from, and logged on, equipment located outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. PIPEDA permits transfers of this kind for processing, and it keeps the operator accountable for the information the whole time it is with a service provider. Both providers act under written terms that limit their use of the information to delivering the service, and information handled abroad may be accessible to the courts and public authorities of the country where the equipment sits. If you would prefer that no request of yours is logged in this way, the only reliable option is not to open the site.
8. How long anything is kept
Delivery and security logs held by the providers are short-lived and are kept in line with each provider's own schedule, which for ordinary access records is a matter of days to a few weeks rather than years. The operator keeps no separate copy of them and builds no archive from them. E-mail correspondence is kept for as long as the exchange is useful, and for no longer than twenty-four months after the last message unless a longer period is required to deal with a legal claim. The value stored on your device under pulse:cookie-choice stays until you clear it.
9. Who else sees anything
Only the hosting provider and Cloudflare, in the technical role described above, and the operator's e-mail provider if you write in. Information may additionally be disclosed where Canadian law requires it, for example under a lawful order made by a court or by a competent public authority. There is no other recipient and no commercial disclosure of any kind.
10. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may ask for access to the personal information about you that is under the operator's control, ask for it to be corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete, ask what it has been used for and to whom it has been disclosed, and revoke a consent you previously gave, subject to legal and contractual limits. Requests should be sent to the e-mail address in section 1 and are answered within thirty days, as PIPEDA requires. Because the site keeps no visitor database, an access request will normally return only the e-mail correspondence you yourself started.
If you are not satisfied with the answer, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, 30 Victoria Street, Gatineau, QC K1A 1H3, telephone 1-800-282-1376, priv.gc.ca. As a resident of Ontario you may also raise consumer questions about this website with the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery, which administers the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (S.O. 2002, c. 30, Sch. A).
11. Electronic messages and CASL
This site sends no commercial electronic messages. There is no mailing list, and no address is added to one. Under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (S.C. 2010, c. 23) the only messages sent from the address in section 1 are direct replies to correspondence started by the person writing in, and each reply identifies the operator and carries a working return address.
12. Age
The site is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. The operator asks that people under sixteen do not write in without the agreement of a parent or guardian. Because no account can be created and no form exists, the site collects nothing from a young reader who simply reads a page.
13. Security
Pages are served over an encrypted connection, the delivery network filters common attacks, and the published files are static, so there is no database of readers to break into. E-mail correspondence is held in a mailbox protected by a strong unique passphrase and two-step verification. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, and the operator does not claim otherwise; please do not send sensitive personal details by e-mail.
14. Links to other services
Pages name games that are published on Google Play and identify the studios behind them. Following a link or a name to a store listing takes you to a service run by another organisation, with its own privacy rules and its own handling of your information. The operator has no control over that and no view of what you do there.
15. Changes to this statement
If the way the site works changes — a new provider, a new technical feature — this statement is updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top is moved forward. Material changes are summarised in the first paragraph for at least thirty days. The version published at this address is always the version in force.
